What makes handmade or Indie so intriguing? Is it the mainstream Hipster culture of individuality and appreciation for art that makes it popular? Maybe its a rebellion against mass production and the act on individuality? The days of wearing a swoosh or some other corporate propaganda seem to be disappearing in urban centers. Are people are looking to stand out and be unique?

After being in the t-shirt business for a bit, I can't help but notice that people want and wear an original and stand out.
A t-shirt that you won't find at the GAP and make one a generic clone. Stores like Urban Outfitters and Diesel have been playing off this idea and have thrived. They are about the original idea with limited production. Sure they are large conglomerates but individuality seems to be a marketing motive. Hey it's better than wearing a shirt that advertises itself like an Armani t-shirt and costs an arm and a leg until it hit the outlet store. By then the t-shirt will be the wrong "color" for the season. I might eat my words once the GAP t-shirt becomes a classic and goes retro. Maybe we are digressing for the better and bringing back independence in fashion statements?
