Sanjay Patel - Religious Super Graphics
Surfing the web, we discovered an interesting appropriation of yet another Hindu religion inspired design works. Its tough to describe something like this and tends to be a mouthful.
This is the work of Sanjay Patel. The description below suggests that he was a Pixar-employed animator, and the work really shows this style.
The description from a promotional website:
"Sanjay Patel's , gives the browser a glimpse of the colorful characters from his book, The Little Book of Hindu Deities, plus some background story on this Pixar-employed animator. Born in England, raised in L.A., Sanjay has gone back to his Hindu roots to create his unique interpretation of various gods and goddesses."
The work seems like a neo-japanimation take on Hinduism. Maybe it's the artist's intention to attract the younger South Asians to Hinduism? The Sanjay writes on his website, "I've simply interpreted these mythologies in a way that I hope will bring more understanding and beauty into the world." I wish there was more to it than that, but power to Sanjay for his uniqueness. Hopefully it develops into something more than beauty with roots in Hindu mythologies.
