I Lost My Job to India

A colleague recently sent me these images in a mass email along with the caption below...

"THIS IS INDIA . IT'S WHERE YOU CALL WHEN YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH YOUR COMPUTER"

Yeah, it could be considered comical, or rather tiring.

The jobs are lost to overseas call centers and there is nothing that is going to stop it as long as India remains as an economical option to Corporations.

Yes, I have been annoyed by their required name changes like Rajesh to Rodger, and the flat monotone that they have been trained to speak in. Imagine if they told a southerner in an Atlanta Call Center to speak like a nightly news anchor? I'm sorry Miss Georgia Peach, but we haven't seen any progress in your linguistics and you will have to go! Hey, if Rajesh (Rodger) is happy making a living with a corporate name change and forced linguistics, I am happy for him.

In 2004, The Register of the UK produced a "My Job Went to India and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"(image below). I am guessing that the kitschy design was somehow linked to the popularity of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Bombay Dreams', or maybe even designed by the same artist that created their poster (image below)? Aren't the flowers pretty?

Moving back to the first images, I have to say that there is something that is rather compelling about them.

Imagine being the Indian, Electrician or the Telephone repair guy who has to sort that mess out and make it work. Maybe India should start outsourcing their telephone/electrical/cable guys over here. If they can make that work over there, maybe we wouldn't get the excuses that they give here?
