Hotter than July BK t-shirt 2008

option 1

option 2

We are currently designing a shirt for my good friend, DJ Ras! (he insists on the exclamation point for some reason and your are welcome to solicit an answer from him)

The design intent was to create a shirt for a Brooklyn (Bed Stuy) House Music venue that is in its second year running. The event is called Hotter Than July BK, we featured them last year LINK
The name comes from, Stevie Wonder's album, Hotter that July.

Most music venues like this tend to feature turntables, dancing people, microphones, etc...

We wanted something different. Thus the designs above are a beginning. The tree branch was inspired by the book, "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn", by Betty Smith.

We would love your opinion on the designs, above.

Thanks,

Chor Bazaar Team.

I get the "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" idea. I also get that because the tree goes across the words, it needs to be without leaves. However, a tree without leaves gives the idea of winter, as opposed to July. It feels "cold." That said, if these are the final two designs, I'd go with option 1. I'm not sure what the dripping is on option 2. Is it something melting, because it's hot? Oh, just put DJ Ras! on it, and the people will flock!

I caught the tree concept immediately as well. (A Tree Grows..., plus, it's a park venue...). I like Option 1 because of the crown (evoking Von KING Park, and, Brooklyn being the county of Kings). I get the melt-down concept of Option 2, but I think Option 1 is stronger. My vote is for Option 1! Go DJ Ras!

I like #2 because: color and the hot drip

I like #2 because: color and Ras is always on FIYA, so the drip.

Hi Hotter Than July BK Ras and Crew -

My vote is for No. 2 with the drip down suggesting HOT. I'd also prefer a splash of orange or red somewhere in the T, more suggestion of Hotter Than July BK. Nice work!

both are cool.

I LIKE OPTION 2 BUT THERE SHOULD SOMETHING ELSE ON IT TO REPRESENT HEAT ..LIKE A FLAME WHICH IS CAUSING THE MELTING, RED OR ORANGE ON EITHER THE WORDS HOTTER OR RAS .TO INDICATE THAT RAS IS HOT OR THE EVENT IS HOT .
JUST MY 2 CENTS .
SEE YOU IN THE PARK.

I like option 2 but I believe that you should indicate that RAS is hot by using flame red fonts for his name.(The heat is coming from RAS causing the melting) ya dig .
peace and blessings see you on the dance floor.
